Blight recorded* a Monumental Pillar 2.17 metres (7’) in height at Breu, St.Just, a name that does not exist in that parish. It was thought* that it must refer to a stone at Brew in neighbouring Sennen Parish although no remains have ever been found there.* However, there is a note by Blight on corrections to be made to his 1856 first volume on ancient crosses that Brew St.Just on page 66 should be replaced by Brey (yet another spelling).*  So it seems that he was in fact referring to the menhir recently uprooted at that location.

Blight recorded* this 1.5 metre (5’) triangular-shaped stone as a Monumental Pillar at Trevear in Sennen, and Michell photographed* the stone about a hundred and ten years later surrounded by cattle in the same location. But, during a return visit in 1973, he found the stone had been uprooted, lying “miserably in the hedge by the road...farmers complain that their machines are obstructed by the old stones in the fields, and all but the most famous are in danger of destruction”: from its alignments he deduced that it was “evidently a megalithic structure”.

Russell wrote* that the uprooted stone then lay at 3690/2612 but included a drawing which looks totally unlike the one in Michell’s book. I went to the site in November 1996 and found the stone still lying where it had been dumped in the corner of the field, close to an old metal gate by the roadside where a hedge has apparently been removed.
